Sakshi Malik is a first Indian, who won the medal in Rio Olympics 2016. Sakshi Malik ended India’s medal drought at Rio Olympics by winning bronze in women’s 58kg freestyle on Wednesday. Sakshi defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova 8-5 in the bronze-medal play-off to become first female wrestler from India to win an Olympic medal.

She had previously won silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and bronze medal at the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championships in Doha. At the 2016 Summer Olympicsheld in Rio, she won the bronze medal in the same category, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics and fourth Indian female to ever win an Olympic medal.
